Alonzo Coghill, a barber, is the man in the standing in the door of his barber shop.  Other men known to be in the shot include W. C. Morgan, A. B. Clem, Eugene Mosley, E. B. McCain, D. H. Peak, W. B. Gillis, Dick Stewart, Mrs. Coghill, and D. L. Bell.  Looking out of the window in the second story window on the left is the switchboard operator of the Home Telephone Company, Mrs. Effie Mosley.  The lower part of the building was the C. A. Bell drug store.  The buildings faced Main Street on the east side of the square.

In a 1935 fire, which started in the poolroom,  burned all of the buildings in this block except the old Bell Hotel, which burned later.  At one time a salon was located on the north corner of this block and takes handed down indicated much activity there.  At the same time here was a small distillery at the edge of town, located near the spring that feeds Ransdell Lake.
