Banks, 1818
The Argus, The Weekly Recorder, of February 20, 1818, listed 49 banks authorized to do business in Kentucky. They weren't counting branches of the Bank of Kentucky (including one in Maysville). They included:
Bank of Limston [sic], Mason cty; $300,000 capital
Petersburg Steam Mill Company, Boone county; $100,000
Bank of Burlington, Boone cty; $100,000
Newport Bank, Campbell county; $200,000
Augusta Exporting Company, Bracken county; $100,000
Bank of Gallatin, Port William, $100,000
They go on to note that a bank authorized, and a bank established and doing business were two different things.
