The Steamer Dick Fulton

The Steamer Dick Fulton, with one coal barge attached, was caught in the storm and blown out into the middle of the Ohio River. As it struck a pier of the Central Bridge, it broke in two and overturned.  Captain Brad Williams, in command of the steamer, was drowned. The members of the crew, consisting of the Engineer M. E. Leap, Fireman Clarence Scott, and John Reynolds and Mate Edward Duncan were saved by jumping on a passing barge, which carried them to the Kentucky shore.  A colored coal heaver was found on the Cincinnati shore later.  The Fulton left Aurora yesterday afternoon and was scheduled to arrive at 9 o’clock last night.  She sank just beyond the second pier of the Central Bridge.
