Tavern Notice
"Notice is hereby given that I will make application to the Boone County court, on Monday, June 6th, 1898, at the court house in the town of Burlington, Boone Co. KY to grant me a license to keep a tavern in the town of Florence, Boone Co. KY in the new brick house that I now occupy at the corner of the Burlington and Florence Pike and the Covington and Lexington Pike in the said town of Florence, Boone County KY with the privilege of selling (retailing) spirituous, vinous and malt liquors therein.
Michael Cahill"
The house in question is the old Florence Hotel, aka Cahill house, at the corner of Main and Girard Streets. The license was given to me by my neighbor who is a descendant of E.V. Grant, owner of the Southern Hotel that sat directly across the street at the corner of Main and Youell Streets. Grant and Cahill signed each others liquor bonds for many years.
