Fired Shot at Burglar
Monday Claude Powers, who runs a store in Walton, shot at a burglar who was trying to effect an entrance through a front window. Mr. Powers has been sleeping in the store since it was robbed some months ago, and merchandise to the value of $1,500 was carried away by automobile thieves.
It is said that the burglar Monday night had an automobile truck parked close by and expected to repeat the performance of several months ago. Another automobile truck was parked some distance away and it is believed both cars were to be used in carrying away their goods.
Walton discharged her night watchman some time since and the town is without adequate police protection at the present time. The thief or thieves made a clean getaway and were not followed.
