John B. LaWarre
John Bernard La Warre |
John Bernard La Warre was born in Louisville, Ky., Dec. 12, 1857, but passed his boyhood days in Cincinnati, where he attended both the public and parochial schools. Since 1877, he has been a stationary engineer, and in that capacity has served a number of well-known firms, notably George E. Currie, the Henshaw furniture company, the Eckstine cab company, the Blymyers and H. Scarborough. In these responsible places, Mr. LeWarre was acquitted himself with credit. For a time he was engaged in the manufacture of artificial marble, but soon returned to his old pursuit. He lives comfortably in his handsomely fitted and furnished home on Sixth avenue. LeWarre has never been in public office. He was a candidate for a member of the school board from the Fourth ward last year, but his party was in a hopeless minority there, and he was defeated after a good run. |
The GAR (a short history of the organization is at this site) held it's annual encampment in Dayton in September,1898. All of the Dayton images and texts dated 1898 are from the souvenir booklet prepared for the occasion.
