Conrad A. Wissel was born in historic Franklin county, Indiana, th early home of many prominent men, among them ex-Governors St. John and Morton.  Mr. Wissel's schooling was in Franklin county and Cincinnati.  At fifteen he became a teacher and taught for twelve years.  He was elected justice of the peace in Franklin county and received his commission from Blue Jeans Williams, remaining in office three years.  During his spare time while teaching he studied law and practiced.  In 1886 he entered government service as a railway postal clerk and became head clerk of the Chicago division.  In May, 1893, he was disabled for a year in a wreck which killed three men in his car.  February 22, 1887 he married Miss Lizzie Boll, who for three years was his pupil when he was teaching school.  Two boys and three girls have been born to them, the eldest boy being a birthday present to his father.  Mr. Wissel came to Dayton in 1892, where he has been well enough satisfied to build the handsome Sixth Avenue houses shown.
