Joe Hooker GAR Post
Joe Hooker Post, No. 16, G. A. R. , [brief history/explanation of the GAR is http://suvcw.org/gar.htm] was organized in 1873, and now has about thirty active members. Officers: Commander, George E. Curric, who was also the first commander; Senior Vice Commander, Wm. Forester; Junior Vice Commander, Miles Mason; Adjutant, J. D. Compton; Quartermaster, W. C. McClain. Meetings are held on the second Saturday evening each month. [After this page was put to print, Col. Geo E. Curric, Post Commander, died at his home in Dayton]
The GAR (a short history of the organization is at this site) held it's annual encampment in Dayton in September,1898. All of the Dayton images and texts dated 1898 are from the souvenir booklet prepared for the occasion.
