Miss Anna Hoff

She called on him, accompanied by her brother, and demanded that he fulfill his promise to marry her. He contemptuously refused, when she fired a pistol which she had under her shawl, and he fell dead. Miss Hoff gave herself up. She says he ruined her under promise of marriage, and that she does not regret her act. Schewrer was a saloon-keeper in Cincinnati.” Sacramento Daily Union, November 15, 1879
