First Male Child
Our information concerning the first while male child born in Campbell county is rather meager, but reliable. His parents moved from Virginia to Kentucky about 1794, and finally settled on Phillip’s creek, a few miles from the Licking river. Losantiville, now Cincinnati, was then but a few years old; and settlers around it, in Ohio and Kentucky, few and widely separated. Here in the midst of the wilderness was born Armsted Gosney, on September 5th, 1796, and here he died on November 19th, 1866, and was buried within a few rods of the place of his birth. The old farm is still in the possession of the family and the remains of the old house are yet visible.
