The Fort Thomas Chapel
The Fort Thomas chapel is still standing, but not in Fort Thomas. Moved after the war, it stands today at 338 East 9th Street, Newport, where it was the home of the First Church of God, but is now a private residence.
Fort Thomas' fort's chapel was dedicated on October 12, 1941, with members of three different faiths present - it was made of pine, had stained glass windows and had offices for three chaplains. An altar for Catholic services slid out of the front wall. Above it was a scroll cabinet for Jewish service. A pulpit was available for Protestant services.
. . . and it's where my Mom and Dad got married.
