The Newport Mutual Fire Insurance Company
The Newport Mutual Fire Insurance Company
Offices at No 5 East Fifth Street
This company was duly incorporated on June 1, 1881, a number of the prominent capitalists and property owners of this section becoming its charter members. The company is strictly a "mutual" one, managed directly in the interest of the policy-holders, and on a remarkably economical and yet efficient basis, reflecting the highest credit upon the board of directors, which is composed as follows: Messrs. T. A. Widrig, president; H. M. Healy, vice-president, F. J. Immegart, L. R. Hawthorn, J. Hartman, J. G. Feth, H. Weidner, G. H. Ahlering, and J. E. McCracken. These are names of respected and responsible citizens, and their identification with the company is alone sufficient guarantee of square and honorable dealing with all. The company controls the insuring of much of the most desirable business and residential property in this city and vicinity, and underwrites only the best class of risks. The last semi-annual report, issued on June 1, 1890, shows total accumulated assets to be $98,441.38 while the loses paid in full up to that date were only $13,`114.01. The company's policies are clearly worded, explicit contracts, its rates are very moderate, while it promptly pays all losses as soon as adjusted. Newport is to be congratulated upon the possession of such a model fire insurance corporation.
