California Wharf Boat

Captain Gordon Green, Manager of the Cincinnati Pomeroy Packet Line, in his endeavor to readjust river conditions so that his packet boats may land profitably at small towns above Cincinnati, has placed a ban on California, Ky., because, it is claimed, this river hamlet, like Aberdeen, cannot come to the wharfage agreement.  Citizens of California have decided to put the annual wharfage for each company back to $120, beginning June 3rd, if a former offer of theirs, which they claim was rejected, is not accepted.  It is said boats cannot land at the old $120 per annum without a great loss.  In the meantime steamers do not land at California.
