The Ferry Minnie

www.nkyviews.com

This is the steam ferryboat “Little Minnie” which was was operated by the Ash family between Lamb and Carrollton. It ran from 1884 to about 1895, when it was replaced by the gas powered “Leon” ferry.

This tin-type of the Little Minnie was probably taken circa 1884 at present-day Point Park at Carrollton. With this photo you have nearly all of the ferries that ran between Lamb and Carrollton (that we have photos of anyway). There was a horse-powered ferry
that predated the Little Minnie. The Little Minnie wooden hull was 65' x 16'.
