Civil War At Ghent

Louisville, Ky, August 30, 1864

Captain J. Bates Dickson, Assistant Adjutant General, Lexington,

Last Evening [Captain George M.] Jessee, with 150 men, captured a squad of 8 or 10 colored troops at Ghent, and murdered them.  Other squads are in the county where he is hunting.  Can't you send some men there?
