Port William, 1808

The Navigator, which was an early, indispensable, best-selling guide for those traveling the Ohio River, had this, and only this, to say about Carrollton, then called Port William, in 1808: 

 “Port William, which, from its situation, as well as the village opposite it, may yet become a place of consequence.”
