www.nkyviews.com

The steam packet, Herald, plying between this city and Warsaw, Ky., was burnt to the water's edge yesterday afternoon, about ten miles below Cincinnati, on her downward trip. She had about sixty passengers on board, all of whom, together with the crew escaped. As soon as the fire was discovered, the boat was run up on the shore. ne lady was slightly injured getting off the boat. Gen. Harrison was one of the passengers, but escaped unhurt.

The freight and baggage were all destroyed.

The boat was new, of small size, and belonged to Col. James, of Rising Sun, Indiana.

We have not heard how the fire originated, nor whether the boat was insured.
