At the time of this photo it was common for most county school systems to have “institutes.”  It was a gathering of all of the teachers of all of the one room schools of the county.  They were not unlike what we think of today as an “in-service day.”

The superintendent is Mr. J. A. McDanell, and the building, as pointed out to us by Alex Weldon, is the old Warsaw Opera House, kinda across from the Baptist Church. The back of the pictures says it's “at the town hall, Warsaw.” We assume that's just the person 's term for the opera house.

The days 1905 and 1911 are both written on the back of the image, so . . .
