News from the Gallatin Side of Big Bone
Thinking that a few items from this point might be of interest to your readers, I will endeavor to send a few stray bits. Big Bone Creek at this point forms the dividing line between Boone and Gallatin counties. Our nearest post office and market town is Patriot, Indiana.
Our nearest church is South Fork (Christian). Preaching the second Sunday each month.
There will be a large crop of corn and considerable potatoes planted in this section. A small crop of tobacco only will be planted. Wm. Noble, Waters and Brish Moore, will crop together.
They are still running the blacksmith and wagon shop at this place.
A great deal of fishing on Saturday afternoons, but with meagre success.
The large Mill and Distillery of W. T. Pate & Co., standing idle, consequently a good many persons are thrown out of employment. Mr. Pate died last fall and the heirs want to sell the property.
