Lytle's father John Emmett Webb worked on the Hattie Brown and came down from Ohio when the Browns sold the boat. Lytle's oldest brother Bill Webb was also a crewman on the Hattie Brown in the early 1900s. Lytle was born in Madison Indiana and named after the General Lytle Steamboat which I believe John Emmett may have worked on at the time.

The General Lytle Steamboat was a mail carrier that stopped at Warsaw.
I understand that a man named Clarence Eugene Webber would pick up the mail at Warsaw and deliver it to Florence and Vevay. By the way General Lytle was a saddle maker and he worked for a man named Bailey Lineback who owned one of the livery's in town.
