Captain William H. Kirby
Captain Wm. H. Kirby died at his home in Warsaw, Ky., Sunday from infirmities of old age. Captain Kirby was a native of Bourbon County. He was the son of Enoch and Delila Kirby, both of whom were born in this county. Captain Kirby's father, a native of Virginia, was among the first settlers in the county, building the first building of any consequence erected in the country in the year 1758 near Kiserton. He was eighty years of age at the time of his death and for more than a half a century was prominent as a steamboat captain on the Ohio River. He was an uncle of President H. K. Taylor, of Kentucky Wesleyan College, Winchester, and a cousin of City Collector R. K. McCarney of this city. Captain Kirby is survived by his wife and three children. The interment took place Tuesday in the cemetery at Warsaw.
