Horrid Murder
On Thursday of last week Mr. Elijah Ford, a wealthy and respected farmer of Grant county, Ky., was encountered on his plantation, at a point remote from his dwelling, by one of his negro men, who fell upon him and beat him with rocks until he died. The murder was committed in the morning but the body was not found until the evening. In the meantime it has been so torn and mutilated by hogs that it was almost impossible to recognize it. The murderer has been arrested and committed to the Grant county jail. No cause assigned for the commission of the fiendish assault.
