Voter List Long in Grant County - Much Too Long

Williamstown, Ky., July 31 [1950] (AP) - Grant County's list of registered voters showed a lot of people eligible to vote - too many.  The list, as recorded in the county clerk's office, contained 8,603 names.  The 1950 census showed the county population as 9,805.

That's when a recheck was started.  It was found that some persons were registered in as many as three different precincts.  That was probably because they failed to tell the clerk they were moving and wished to change their registration, simply registering again instead. Names of persons dead for a number of years also turned up.
