Buffington Springs

If you go out Garvey Avenue, pretty much beyond the Elsmere city limits, the road goes down a hill, makes an abrupt turn up and to the right, and goes back up to the top of the hill.  After you get to the top, there's a dead end road that goes off toward the little Boone County town of Devon.  The railroad cuts it off from being a thru road.

But a hundred years ago, going back this now-dead-end road would bring you to Buffington Springs, a resort popular for its mineral waters, which, in those days, were supposed to have medicinal properties.
