Great story from the Erlanger Museum that was told to [Erlanger Historical Society] by June Kohorst Kroger regarding this building. June's mother was a window at 23 years old and had two little girls when she married Frank Kohorst. She and Frank debated about purchasing Retschulte's or coming to Erlanger and purchasing Andy Scheben's hotel and saloon. They married in 1912 and bought the Scheben property. They had the house moved farther back on Commonwealth and it became #9 Commonwealth in those days. 5 rooms were torn off when the house was moved but it still had 11 rooms. The other part of the building was a bowling alley and saloon that were moved further south of the Dixie Highway. The Family ran the saloon and restaurant. Joe Anderson of boxing fame purchased the Saloon from the Kohorst family and Joe sole it to Eddie Arcaro whose parents Pasquale ( Pat) Arcaro operated it as a bowling alley and a Restaurant for many years. this is a photo from Joe Anderson's time when Jack Dempsey the famous boxer visited the Saloon. Now the location is CVS. Dixie and Commonwealth.
