Early Maysville Floods

Writing at the time of the 1884 flood, one of the areas largest ever, Capt. R. C. Rankin, recalls earlier floods in his Reminiscences of the Floods of '32 and '47. In his words, “The flood of '32 was seven inches higher than in '47 and twelve inches above that of '83, but several feet below that of '84.  Now, was there a greater amount of water in '84 than in '32?  It is a question in my mind whether there was or not.”
