The Railroad is Coming to Owenton
Owenton, Ky., Dec. 25. - (Special) - The County Court of Owen, at its session yesterday, granted a franchise to a number of Owen-county people for an electric or steam road in the county. While the franchise covers nearly all the principal turnpikes, the route most favorably mentioned by those interested is the one from Warnock's Station, in Scott County, to Worthville, by way of Owenton, New Liberty and Wheatley.
The names of the applicants are P. A. Alexander, J. H. Cunningham, J. W. Carmack, W. J. Watson, G. W. O'Banion, J. A. Wood, Jesse J. Crouch, Alvin Slaughter, E. Bainbridge, Joseph Samford, J. M. Herndon, A. D. Dawson, W. E. Foster, H. T. Kemper, W. A. Lee, Charles Strother, M. H. Bourne, J. H. Thompson, W. A. Walton, J. W. Agree, J. W. Smith, B. Alexander and J. B. Martin.
Owenton has for a long time needed railroad connections with the outside world. The people of the county are in hearty sympathy with the move, and this means that the road will be built.
