Storm and Heavy Rain
A destructive wind and rain storm sited the county Wednesday night. Trees and crops were blown down in many places and by the heavy rains, the Licking river and its tributaries are swollen to a very high stage. Crops along these streams are ruined in many places. James Austin has about 15 acres of fine corn on Murphy’s Island and it was swept away by the waters of the Licking. C. [illeg] and Mun Keefe both lost fine gardens. The rain was very heavy at Morgan and tobacco and corn along the river in many places are flooded and ruined.
