Levengood was a small town on the South Fork of the Licking River about halfway between Morgan and Falmouth. The railroad ran through the area, and the station was called Levengood Station. There was also a railroad section house in the town.

It appears that the Levengood family had a plantation in the area and that it dats back to the 1820's. Most of the buildings are no gone. The family left the area and went West about the time of the Covil War. Some of them ended up at Deer Lodge, Montana. they are on the census there and buried there. Some were in Missouri, and other western locations.

There was a whiskey distillery started by a man named Hayes and the little town started to be called Hayes, and the railroad station became Hayes Station.
