The Old Cemetery
The board of Trustees met at the Clerk’s office in the town of Warsaw on Tuesday the 9th day of April 1839. Present John T. Robinson, N.H. Sinclair, D.E. Gibson, Geo. M. Child, G.F. Scruggs, John M. Bacon
Upon motion of the Chairman, Benj Tiller was appointed a Committee to negotiate for a lot of ground for a Grave Yard and report to the board.
June 17, 1839
G.F. Scruggs reported that he had contracted with Willis Roberts through Geo. Roberts as his agent for an acre of ground in the South East corner of the factory lot for the sum of two hundred dollars which contract was laid before the board for approval. Whereupon the board being fully advised consented to this arrangement and it is ordered that the contract made by Mr. Scruggs be and the same is hereby confirmed.
Ordered by the board that James Hawkins Esq. be requested to survey and lay off the aforesaid lot of ground in burying apartments under the direction of the board.
July 9, 1839
Ordered that the board meet on the coming of the 10th inst at 4 P.M. for the purpose of carrying into effect the order of the 17th June respecting the burying ground.
March 12, 1844
Resolved that a committee consisting of Messrs David Huston, N.H. Sinclair & H.J. Abbett be & they are hereby appointed to enquire whether a suitable cite for a burial ground can be obtained and upon what terms, and that they report to the Board as soon as convenient &c
April 18, 1845
On motion the Chairman pro tem is requested to appoint a Com. Of two to endeavor to procur a burying ground, whereupon N.H. Sinclair and J.C. Richards are appointed as Commen for the purpose.
May 16, 1845
Ordered that N.H. Sinclair and John C. Richards be appointed a committee to contract with RE Hardesty for a piece of ground on the said Hardesty farm for the purpose of a burial ground for the town of Warsaw and that they report to the next meeting of the Board their actings and doings
July 5, 1845
The subject of the burying ground being brought up and the convenience, expense &c of the ground as proposed for sale by R. Hardesty & Jas. H. Spencer in behalf of Sarah M. Whiteside, having been considered. It was determined to purchase that proposed to be sold by the said Sarah M. Whiteside and the field notes of the survey of the same are as follows.
July 5th 1845 surveyed for Sally M. Whiteside one lot of land, adjoining and bounding on the southern line of the Town of Warsaw. Beginning at a stake in said Town line, thence S 53 ¾° West Eleven poles 4 ½ links to a rock in John Payne line then S 31 ½° E Seven poles 2 ½ links to a stake in said Payne line, Then N 52 ¾° E Eleven poles 4 ½ links to a stake then N 31 ½° W Seven poles 2 ½ links to the beginning, containing one half acre of land

Monday July 7, 1845 The Board met present all the board except H.J. Abbett & H. Kelsey. After some conversation about the burying ground absent N.H. Sinclair
Present H. Kelsey.
Sarah M. Whiteside entered into a bond for the conveyance of the burying ground which was ordered to be filed
Ordered that the Clerk of the board draw an order in favor of Sarah M. Whiteside on the Treasurer of the Town of Warsaw for the sum of Fifty dollars the first payment for the burying ground bought of her.

At a meeting of the board of Trustees at the Counting room of N.H. Sinclair
Present all the board.
Ordered that the Clerk proceed to draw a deed from Philip King and Sarah M. his wife (late Sarah M. Whiteside) to the trustees of Warsaw and have the same completed ready for record, for the half acre of ground bought of Sarah M. Whiteside for a burying ground.

May 11, 1846
On motion of J.C. Richards.
Ordered that the Chairman be requested to appoint a com. of 3 to lay off the burying ground into three separate lots. 1 for citisens 1 for strangers & 1 for negroes and there upon J.C. Richards, N.H. Sinclair & A Ritchey appointed for that purpose.
And on motion Alexander Ritchey is appointed to superintend & direct where to dig the grave in case of all burials in the public burying ground, with full power to have the grave dug in such place as he may direct.
