Lookout House

.

Excerpted from the work of Charles Geaslen (February 2, 1896 - January 6, 1986), who among other things, wrote columns for the Kentucky Post, The Kentucky Times-Star and the Cincinnati Enquirer. His books include Strolling Along Memory Lane (Vols. 1, 2, and 3) as well as a book on the Civil War in N. Kentucky, Our Moment of Glory in the Civil War.

Debbie Kohl Kremer wrote us: “This is my grandpa, Chester Geaslen. Besides being a fun grandpa, he was an amazing historian and storyteller. He was employed as a railroad engineer but always carried a reporter's notebook with him so he could interview anyone he came in contact with. He took notes, getting verbal history from people about their families and where they came from. He did extensive research on Northern Kentucky history and wrote about it for the newspapers. In the 1970s, he compiled all his research into several books, which are available at all area libraries. He became somewhat of an authority on NKY history. More than once, I have been researching a subject and I find his work cited as a source.”
