Rec'd 12th Sept. 1822 of Alex P. Stubblefield forty dollars being in part for three negroes Mary, John, and Kitty Ann, which said negroes is to be free when the girls arrive at age & the boy to twenty-one years and it us understood that said Stubblefield should be dissatisfied of the negroes should go off or be taken away I am to refund back to said Stubblefield when I return from Indiana in proportion of any such loss should it happen.
