Avenged His Sister's Wrongs

Bedford, Ky., - April 18 - Samuel Abbott, a soldier in the first artillery, summarily avenged a sister's wrong by shooting Thomas Craig at Wise's landing, six miles from here.  The sister had given birth to a child and Abbott and his brother had compelled him to marry her on Sunday.  Afterward Abbott overheard Craig say they could not make him to support his wife.  The next time Abbott met Craig he shot him to death and then came here and gave himself up.
