Frank B. Shumate
Shumate |
Frank B. Shumate was born in Concord, Ky., in July 1861, but the family moved to Ohio when he was six years old. He attended school in Adams county, and was for a time in Muncie, Ind. He came to Dayton in 1896. For fifteen years he has been a contracting plasterer, and holds the standing contract for the Grand Hotel, in Cincinnati. He has done many large jobs, among them one at Augusta College, Kentucky. [His office was at Sixth and Vine, Dayton.] Dayton has a number of contractors and builders who, like Mr. Shumate, have no little work beyond the town limits. It speaks well for their skill in work. And in their own city are some of the best constructed buildings to be found anywhere. |
The GAR (a short history of the organization is at this site) held it's annual encampment in Dayton in September,1898. All of the Dayton images and texts dated 1898 are from the souvenir booklet prepared for the occasion.
