1937 Flood In 1937, 75% of Dayton felt the floodwaters: over 7,000
people (out of a population of 10,000)  were forced out
of their homes, 392 houses were damaged too badly to
be repaired, and 51 houses simply lifted off their
foundations and floated down the river, never to be
seen, in Dayton, again.

The ten images above are all from Tammy Cornett's Facebook page, The History of Dayton, Ky. We note that she had reservations about the images we've marked with an *, in regard to whether they were really 1937 flood pics. 1933 and 1945 would be the closest big floods on either side of 1937. To her point, we note some of these pics have no flood waters.

The flood water isn't the worst; the muddy aftermath is.
