“On their regular meeting date, April 2nd, the Grant County Board of Education made a ruling to the effect that any lady, who should get married, after being elected a teacher or while under the employ of the Board as a teacher, would automatically cancel her agreement of contract with the Board of Education.”  Grant County News, April 6, 1928

The school building below, erected in 1890, was replaced by the school building above. The election to appropriate the money to do it was held on March 4, 1922.  It was snowing that day.  Out of an estimated voting populace of 750-800, the matter passed 398 to 99.  That's two-thirds voter turnout, in the snow, to support education.
