An account of its 1844 cornerstone ceremony. 1500 people came out.

A year later, the dedication was preached in German and English.

The first priest at Corpus Christi, Father Boeswald, was stoned to death
in 1855 by members of the Know Nothing (Wikipedia) party, because he was Catholic. He was 35.

This Corpus Christi building was dedicated on October 4, 1903. “A beautiful, substantial stone structure, combining church, school, and pastor's residence under one roof.”
